Elina Ström
I am a freelance costume designer living in Helsinki. In Spring 2020, I finished my Master of Arts degree in Aalto university after which I have worked as a costume designer and a costumer in short films and TV series.
As a designer I am intuitive and adaptive. I am happy to work on various platforms whether it involves performing arts, short film or a miniseries published on Instagram. I contemplate on costume in relation to body, environment and the story being told. I am intrigued by the potential of costume as an independent and self-performing element as well as a subtle ingredient merged within an artwork. However, in each project I have found the journey and community, which form around the artwork being made to be the most meaningful aspect for myself. I believe that safe, equal, and reliable working group is prerequisite for a process that will carry over the marvelous flow-states as well as the challenges and complex artistic questions.
