Maria Sirén
Hi! I’m Maria Sirén, a freelance costume designer from Helsinki. I have done design work for both large and small productions all over Finland and a little abroad as well. I have been working in the fields of TV, theatre, opera, and dance, but there is always room for new opportunities.
Enthusiasm for the costume designer profession was sparked through textile studies, and led my way to Aalto University, where I graduated with a Master of Arts majoring in costume design in 2018. In the same year, I won the Young Golden Award of costume design in a competition organized by the International Stage Art Network (iSTAN) in Beijing.
For me, costume design is a tool to make the invisible visible, and cooperation with professionals from different fields opens the mind to continuous renewal and self-development. The evolving nature of the work is always presenting new challenges and opportunities and that is exactly what I enjoy and what I want to do. Let’s be in touch!
