Scenographer Taina Relander was graduated as Master of Arts from the School of Arts and Design / Aalto University in Helsinki 1984. The subject of her thesis was costume design for contemporary dance. She completed her post graduate studies of scenography at the École Nationale Superiéure d’Art Villa Arson´s scenography departement, with a grant of French government 1987-89.
Relander worked as a set designer at Rovaniemi City Theatre 1989-91. She has been a freelancer in Helsinki since 1991, designing costumes and/or sets for over hundred productions, visiting Finnish National Opera and several regional operas, also visiting in Spain and Estonia.
Visual workshops are also among her skills. During several projects she has been tutoring students from Aalto University in collaboration with the audience outreach departement at Finnish National Opera 2015-2019.
Exposition ‘SETs&Stuff’ presented her selected projects in the Theatre Museum 2004.
