I have worked as a freelance scenographer since 1989. My work consists of both costume and set design for a wide range of performing arts productions, including theatre, modern and contemporary dance and opera as well as ballet. The productions have been staged in independent theatre groups as well as in large institutional theatres, opera and ballet companies. I have also designed for television and film, yet I personally feel staging performances is the closest art form to me.

As a scenographer, my core mission is to generate and enable action and dramatic tension in the artwork at hand. I like to deeply participate in the rehearsal process as I think that often the aesthetic and stylistic choices of a production are developed within the working process as well as in the pre-production planning. I am very skilled in solution making and adapting to change, and I welcome the possibility to complete and finalize a design during the rehearsal process. I also like to welcome a certain sense of roughness in the visuality of my designs. Due to my experience as a free-lance designer, I feel that it is equally important to build a special experience for an audience member in relation to the performance space as it is to create the design solution for the stage.

Since 2011 I have been I have been a board member, and 2019-2023 I was the Chair of the Board for Q-theatre and Theatre Quo Vadis. As a deputy member in the Board of Q-theatre, I continue supporting the work that Q-theatre does in specializing in Finnish new drama and developing art-based methods to support mental health and well-being.
